The 10 best base designs in 7 Days to Die

So, therefore, bit-by-bit start replacing the double doors with garage doors. The only door I would not recommend to replace is the one that leads to the airlock. That leaves you more metal fragments for the door, gear sets, and weapons.

We simply can't get enough of Pooky's range of cordless lamps. The Twinky is not only lightweight and rechargeable but also effortlessly portable, meeting all your lighting needs as you move it around the room. Plus, the dimmable feature lets you set the mood just right. With at least ten hours of light on a single charge, it's ready to shine all night long. If you have a large space, you may be wondering how to best divide it up. Providing different types of lounging is always a good idea like this lovely design.

Cedreo’s online basement planner allows professional home builders and designers to work on both PC and Mac, from any location. When shopping for lighting, you should think not only about aesthetics but also functionality. Consider the lamp's role in the room, its materials, and its placement. For task lighting, like next to a reading chair, choose a slim lamp that blends with the decor yet offers ample light.

Space for Seats

Before you do any building in-game, I strongly recommend that you practice at least the initial build steps on a build server. Right after you spawned your first task is to determine and to get to the location where you want to build the base. For stone walls, it takes 23 spears, which requires to farm about 7k wood.

Then as before place another large box and fill the gaps with two small boxes. I haven’t found anything that works better at the beginning of the wipe and that combines efficient use of space with some space to move around for the team. Just before you start, I would upgrade the backs of the two loot rooms to sheet metal, as they are difficult to reach from the inside of the base. You can now close off the loot room with a sheet metal double door. This way you can house a group of 5-6 people in the base already. Until you get a good eye for the land and its restrictions, it’s safer to build the footprint before starting the build. Nothing is more aggravating than starting a base and then realizing that a slope or a building block zone prevents you from completing the build.

Overall, the Basis of Design (BOD) document’s components provide a comprehensive framework for guiding the decision-making process of the design team. The BOD document is critical for ensuring the success of a project. It helps to align all stakeholders involved in the project towards a common goal and minimize misunderstandings, conflicts, and delays. It also provides a framework for evaluating design options and making informed decisions, which helps to ensure that the project meets the desired goals and objectives.

It also outlines the critical performance criteria, such as sustainability, energy efficiency, and user comfort. The Arco lamp designed by the Castiglioni brothers has captured the hearts of Hollywood and designers for decades—and with good reason. Its sculptural arc acts as a statement art piece, while its timeless design ensures it remains fresh for today. Jenkins has one in her own home and enjoys incorporating them into her clients' homes, noting, "I love putting [this lamp] next to a more traditional sofa; it adds the perfect amount of style tension."

First of all, they upgrade the walls, for example, to sheet metal. Hence, experienced players will recommend you to build a triangle airlock. If you use single doors, they will open into each other and block door campers from running through. Next, people tend to compartmentalize the inside of the 2×2. The reason is that if raiders blow through the airlock or through a wall, they won’t automatically gain access to all loot. That’s not outstanding for a main base, but decent for a starter base – enough to prevent quick and easy eco raids.

The BOD provides a comprehensive framework that guides the decision-making process of the design team. It helps to ensure that the design options are evaluated against the defined technical and performance criteria and that the selected solution meets the project objectives and requirements. It also helps to coordinate the design with other disciplines and systems, such as mechanical, electrical, and structural. The Basis of Design (BOD) is an essential document that plays a crucial role in the success of a project. It provides a clear direction and vision for the design team, helping to ensure that the project meets the owner’s expectations and objectives. A well-defined BOD can make the design and construction process more efficient, reduce costs, and minimize the risk of costly errors and rework.

14 Basement Remodel Before And Afters

Rolling garage doors are kept locked by the alliance and only unlocked by clan members once an appropriate toll has been received. With turrets lining both the internal and external walls, clean lighting, and ample room for activities both on the second floor and the roof, there’s something to be said for ensconcing points-of-interest in 7D2D. Upgrade this 1×1, surround it with walls and a ceiling, and a wall frame facing into the core. I’d recommend it as a starter base for two to four people, though you’ll be able to squeeze in 6+ sleeping bags if you don’t mind using the corridors. In contrast to my previous 2×2 starter base, this one has a lot more storage, providing a storage capacity equivalent of 10 large boxes. And more importantly, it does not suffer anymore from issues with not being able to replace doors after the April 2019 update.

Basis of Design: FAQs

The BOD is prepared during the pre-design stage and it serves as the basis for all the design calculations and other design decisions. Note that, BOD is not a substitute for code and standard guidelines or project design drawings. But a BOD simply includes the list of individual items to support the design work process based on the owner’s project requirements. The Basis of Design (BOD) is typically developed during the initial phases of the project, including the programming and schematic design phases. It provides a framework that guides the decision-making process of the design team, from the initial concept to the final construction documents. The BOD document serves as a reference point for all stakeholders involved in the project, including the owner, architects, engineers, and contractors.

Amazing Basement Remodel Before And Afters

You now have an actual airlock which provides you excellent all-around visibility. I use this corner for the research table with a drop chest underneath. One great hack is to place carpets or bear rugs above sleeping bags. When you spawn, eat something, and sit next to a heat source such as the furnaces. As long as your hunger level doesn’t drop too low, this will fully regenerate your health. The left one should stick out a bit more than the right one to make it easier to access it.

With the addition of voice chat, it also opens the door for more RP-friendly interactions with other players. For these servers, players can get a bit more creative with designs as they don’t need to be overly cautious regarding zombie pathing. That means more defenses will be necessary for the undead, such as spikes and turrets, but the first concern will be other players. We’ve gathered the ten best base designs found in 7 Days to Die (7D2D) from build-offs and social media. They’re all strong in their unique ways, so rather than ranking, take this as a culmination as the best seen thus far.

The last bit to upgrade is the first triangle outside of the core. Not only does it push the raid cost to 15 rockets, but it also creates more space for you and your team to move. One, you don’t want raiders to see that you have garage doors, and second, this door can be closed through the door behind it, which can be helpful to trap players who are trying to go deep. No matter which angle raiders take, or whether they are watching this video while raiding the base, it takes a minimum of 12 rockets to reach the TC, and 15 rockets to raid both loot rooms. However, it can be surprisingly non-trivial to figure out the details, as there are so many versions and approaches to building 2x2s. In this video, I will show you how to build a dead-simple 2×2 starter base, which is pretty close to what most people would build – but more optimized.

Any changes to the BOD may significantly impact the project scope, schedule, and budget and require additional approvals and documentation. The Basis of Design (BOD) aims to establish a common understanding of the project goals, scope, and expectations among all parties involved. The BOD helps ensure the design team is aligned and working towards a common goal. It provides a clear direction and vision for the project, which is essential for completing it.

In a game where killing pretty much happens left, right, and beyond, it’s now time to show the tamer side of Valheim, building structures. The Cop zombies could be a bit of a headache with this build, as their projectile vomit will not only damage the iron bars but could injure the players beneath.

Without those extra walls, raiders can reach into two squares at once. With those extra walls, they will only be able to break into one. The two most common forms of that are the U shape and the F shape. In the U shape variation, a wall next to the entrance separates the main loot room and requires raiders to blow through three more doors to get there.

In conclusion, the Basis of Design (BOD) is crucial in design and construction. It provides a comprehensive framework that guides the decision-making process of the design team, from the initial concept to the final construction documents. The BOD helps to establish a shared understanding of the project goals, scope, and expectations among all parties involved and ensures that the project meets the owner’s expectations and objectives. In summary, architects, interior designers, and construction companies must recognize the importance of the Basis of Design (BOD) in the design and construction process.

For a decorative touch or a warm glow, select a sculptural base with a patterned or linen shade. Regarded as one of Danish lighting designer Mads Caprani's hallmark creations, the Timberline lamp draws inspiration from the transitional zone of the tree line, where wood gives way to stone. Its combination of materials—bentwood, cast iron, and canvas—allows the piece to mingle with a multitude of other textures in a room.

In this cheerful transformation, a clunky fireplace becomes a modern focal point while the wood beams and columns harken back to the spaces paneled past. The door opens automatically and immediately closes behind you. This makes it trivial to keep the door closed when leaving the base. And when you return open the door manually, and run over the pressure pad. Jump into the loot room and place it as far back against that wall and in the center of those lines.

The House with Chicken Legs Wikipedia

baba yaga house

When Vasilisa wakes in the morning and sees the firelit dim inside the skull-topped fence posts, she spies a rider dressed all in white galloping upon a milk-white horse around the house. Soon she spies a rider in red on a blood-red horse who does the same. In the evening, when the Baba Yaga returns to check on Vasilisa's work, the girl sees a rider in black on a coal-black horse galloping around the hut before vanishing like the others. Baba Yaga, in Slavic folklore, an ogress who steals, cooks, and eats her victims, usually children. A guardian of the fountains of the water of life, she lives with two or three sisters (all known as Baba Yaga) in a forest hut that spins continually on birds’ legs.

Baba Yaga: The Ancient Origins of the Famous ‘Witch’

The trickster appears in the mythology of cultures around the world but, it should be remembered, these 'mythologies' were once understood as religious beliefs as valid as any held in the present day. The trickster was recognized as a god, or an emanation of a supreme deity, who interfered in the lives of other deities, humans, and the natural world – for whatever reason or no reason at all – encouraging transformation. However unpleasant the experience with the trickster might be, one was forced out of one’s comfort zone into a new state – often a heightened state – of awareness of oneself and the world.

Peter the Great and the Russian Empire, c. 1725

Baba Yaga (Baba Jaga) is a witch or ogress from Slavic folklore who lives in a magical hut in the forest and either helps, imprisons, or eats people (usually children). She is among the most famous figures from Slavic folklore as guardian of the fountains of the waters of life and is sometimes seen as embodying female empowerment and independence. Placed firmly around Baba Yaga’s house is a fence made from human bones and skulls. The gate of the fence is made from men’s legs, while the bolts are made from human arms.

Vasilissa understands the implied threat and only asks about the riders, seemingly enraging Baba Yaga who demands to know why she will not ask more. Vasilissa responds that she is only doing as Baba Yaga suggested and then infuriates the witch further when she is asked how she was able to perform all the tasks. She replies carefully that her mother’s blessings enabled her, and Baba Yaga, rejecting anything blessed, tells her to leave. Storybook or fairytale style often has much in common with the bungalow, English Cottage, Tudor Revival, or Norman/French Revival styles and is often subsumed in those definitions. Its defining characteristic might best be described at the kind of house you'd imagine Seven Dwarves or some happy Hobbits heading home to at the end of a hard day of work. No flying broom for this witch, the Baba Yaga travels on a magical flying mortar using a pestle to urge it on, sweeping away the path of her flight with a broom.

And is surrounded by a fence made from human bones with a lock on her gate made from the sharp teeth of a human jaw. She has disheveled hair and a sometimes iron nose that is so long she can lie down on the floor of her hut and it could touch the ceiling. Baba Yaga was once more goddess than witch who reigned over time, life, death, and the elements. Today, she is most commonly depicted as an ugly evil witch, but that wasn't always her story. Since Baba Yaga rejects just about every societal norm in the book, this is precisely what makes her so fascinating to many people as both a villain and a mysterious fairy godmother character. But at the heart of it, she also represents an evergreen reminder for people to watch out for themselves in a dangerous world — and to not stray too far from safety.

In some stories, it is said that when she lies down on the floor of her hut, her nose literally touches the ceiling. Some folklore stories claim that her long nose allows her to identify the people by scent. In many of the Slavic myths about Baba Yaga, it is known that the wild old witch can indeed fly. In quite a number of eastern Slavic regions, the word “baba” was used for a married peasant woman of childbearing age or older. In some other case, the word is simply a babble word, mostly used by toddlers. Her spread beyond Russia and Slavic communities was buoyed on by the translations of Aleksandr Afanasyev’s Russian folktales.

It is widely held that Vasilii Levshin’s 1780 collection – Russian Fairy Tales – contains the first narrative account of this character from Slavic folklore. In the collection, the author portrays her in the same light as in the oral traditions. She is said to be very deadly old woman with razor-sharp teeth and bear claws. The Baba Yaga story and poems are in many children’s books today.

After Vasilisa has done all of the witch's tasks to her liking, the girl works up the courage to ask the Baba Yaga who these riders were. The Baba Yaga reveals that the white, red, and black riders were the day, the sun, and the night, respectively, all of whom she refers to as her faithful servants. Sure, Baba Yaga is Russian, she's scary, and she wants to eat you, but there's so much more. How do you know when you've found a Baba Yaga and not just a generic forest witch? Is she definitely going to eat you, or might she instead play the role of a beneficent yet still vaguely sinister mother figure?

Another unusual detail in this story is that here the Baba Yaga has three daughters. The Baba Yaga tells each daughter in turn to cook the boy, but he tricks each one of them into cooking themselves instead by acting like he doesn't know how to lie in a pan and asking them to show him. Pulling the same trick a fourth time leads to a cooked Baba Yaga and a youth running bravely home.

If the tasks are not fulfilled and the seekers have not found a way to escape, she will cook and eat them. Baba Yaga may well be the most ancient being in Russian folklore. So much so that linguists still debate the origins of the name. Indeed, numerous stone sculptures in Southern Russia have been found to depict such a female progenitor.

Explore the enigmatic world of Baba Yaga and unravel the intriguing myths and legends surrounding her. Worldhistoryedu is not responsible for the content of external sites. In some accounts, Baba Yaga is said to have sisters, two sisters usually.

What Working on Cruise Ships is Really Like: Pros & Cons

working on a cruise ship

When I was a new hire, I don’t think I had time to get off the ship until the second week. Sometimes this can last hours, especially if the crew fail to respond properly. Because the majority of crew members tend to be from Asian countries (the Philippines, Indonesia, and India), a lot of the food in the crew mess is catered to their cuisine.

Main Cruise Ship Job Duties

It also allows cruise ship companies to take advantage of more favorable tax conditions in such countries. In this way, it is possible to reduce personnel costs by as much as half, according to tourism professor Angela Teberga. The fact that salaries often do not meet the standards of regulations set out by countries in the European Union is due to the fact that many cruise ships are registered in countries where other rules apply, such as in the Bahamas or Panama. There are actually no ships that sail under the German flag, for example. From 14-hour shifts to meager pay, working conditions on cruise ships are tough. To cope with all of the hard work, cruise ship employees usually form tightknit relationship and friendships with one another.

Deck & Technical

Some passengers might be required to meet with immigration officials on board prior to getting off the ship. Because rules change based on the country of the disembarkation port and the nationality of the passengers, it's best to follow all instructions given onboard. The disembarkation briefing, usually held on your final day at sea by the cruise director in the main theater or other large lounge is a good starting point. It's not the most entertaining way to spend your last sea day, so check to see if the session will be shown later on your in-cabin TV. In addition, the most pertinent disembarkation information will be included in the ship's daily newsletter or in a separate memo left in your cabin.

Is disembarkation like checking out of a hotel?

Yes, taxis are always available at ports of disembarkation to take travelers to the airport, post-cruise hotels or area attractions. You can book bus transfers via your cruise line, either before your trip or onboard, that will either take you directly to the airport or combine a city tour with an airport transfer. Buses will be parked just outside the terminal, and port staff can direct you to the correct one.

You’re away from family and friends for long periods of time

Lots of businesses understand that while guests are simply one-time visitors, crew members come back each time the ship returns to the area and can bring in a lot of regular business. They were amazing experiences that were less physically demanding than ship life with better pay and fewer work hours. Private transfers or tour guides can also pick up passengers at the terminal.

Paramedics also perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the efficient and safe operation of the medical center under the direction and supervision of the Senior Nurse. Additional duties include equipment checks, medicines and inventory management, participation in drills, audits, inspections and training of other crew members. Technical skills are learned and practiced on board, such as X-rays acquisition, and performing a wide-array of laboratory tests and other procedures. Nurses also perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the efficient and safe operation of the medical center under the direction and supervision of the Senior Nurse. Doctors will also perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the efficient and safe operation of the medical center.

I, set on making a scene in front of everyone, including guests, asked them what they needed to check, and they said they needed me to remove my dress. Unless you’re a higher ranked staff or officer, your room will be generally small. If you think guest cabins are small, wait until you see what crew cabins look like. You’ll be away from home for a long while and in that time you will also miss out on a lot of life. The majority of crew members work anywhere from 9-11+ hours every day, the average amount being on the higher end of the spectrum. On land, you can go hard on a Friday night and have a couple of days to recover.

How do I get my luggage off the cruise ship?

At the same time, he also says that you barely have the time to think about your hectic schedule. Explore the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Baltic, North American coasts and many more destinations. During some days at port, you’re able to explore the cities — as a bonus, the cost of day trips / tours are generally covered by the cruiseline. Princess Cruises works with a worldwide network of recruitment partners to select and support our crew.

Junior Assistant Food & Beverage Manager

Even if you’re off duty and walking through public areas of the ship, you are still a working employee if guests stop you to ask you a question or need help. If you’re lucky, some ships will try to include both Asian and Western food options, but it’s not always the case. The most I ever clocked in in a day was about 13 hours, but of course this will vary according to job position and possibly whether or not it’s a busy cruise. Sometimes companies or organizations buy out the entire ship for their employees or events at sea. While the majority of cruise guests might be primarily from one or two countries, the crew area is like a small, diverse city with people from dozens of countries.

These include regional dishes from the crew members' home countries, fast food (think burgers and pizza) and healthy options. Additionally, the line says that many potential crew members apply for jobs after hearing about employment opportunities from friends and family members who already work for Royal Caribbean, and there is never any danger of a shortage of staff. working on a cruise ship

This is probably the biggest and most well-known perk of working on ships, and for good reason.

Unlike life on land, there is no rent to be paid or monthly utility bills that need to be taken care of. But working on ships also allows you to travel to places some only dream of while making some amazing connections with fellow seafarers from all over the world. It will then be placed in sections in the terminal, according to tag colors.

Crew members have their own cafeteria (“mess”) separated from guests and even sometimes split between ranks. It’s not easy to work long hours for months at a time, isolated from land and friends and family. Also dependent on your job position, sometimes charters are better for you, but also sometimes they’re worse. While your rank dictates how much of the events you can partake in (if at all and more on that later), I’d say 70% of the charter cruises I’ve worked on have been very pleasant with better-than-usual guests. The guests’ demographics and atmosphere of the ship varies dramatically compared to typical cruisers. While this period is unpaid, it does provide ample time to travel freely for more than just a week.

Every cruise, crew members need to take part in mandatory emergency drills where you have to respond to a simulated incident and answer questions about crisis response protocol. Depending on how many stripes you have, you may be allowed to be seen around the ship in the public areas such as the shops or eating at one of the restaurants. Luckily, many crew cabins have bunked beds with curtains for each bed so you have your own personal coffin of solitude. This can be extremely difficult for introverts such as myself especially if your job is a front of the house position.

It's a common misconception that life on a cruise ship is just one big holiday for staff. Regardless of the role employees take, they can expect to work hard throughout their contract. Crew members work every day of their contract, taking time off in hours rather than in full days. Onboard photography is primarily centered on portrait and event photography, using both natural locations and onboard studio setups with backdrops and studio lighting. Our Videographers produce a souvenir DVD documenting the cruise experience from beginning to end, showing both onboard entertainment and port tours and destinations.

I've had the chance to travel the world and meet some incredible people, too. Currently, I work as a youth staff member, which means I handle the entertainment for the teens and the kids on board. In common with other cruise lines, Royal Caribbean operates recruitment programs around the world in countries such as the Philippines, China and Indonesia in order to ensure it always has enough staff to fill its employment needs. The great thing is that while you’re at sea, living expenses are pretty much non-existent, as food and accommodation are covered. Even if you’re not hired to one of the highest paid positions, you’ll easily be able to save money.

ARRGH! Disney Cruise Pirate Night, the Ultimate Guide!

disney cruise pirate night

All of these characters will also be dressed in their own special pirate-themed outfits. Guests of all ages are encouraged to bring their best pirate attire and costumes. We noticed that the level of dressing up varied greatly amongst the passengers. Some guests had gone all out and were dressed from head to toe in pirate gear, while other passengers wore very little themed pirate clothing. After dinner, dancing and games begin on the pool deck with Mickey and other Disney characters, until a band of pirate thieves -- costumed actors, of course -- try to take command of the ship. Their efforts are thwarted by Captain Jack Sparrow, who excitingly appears atop the ship's funnel and then rappels down it in a theatrical display.

Cruise Line Ships

The Pirates in the Caribbean Party follows basically the same formula on all the ships, with the exception of the Wish. There are usually two shows, with the second show being followed by the fireworks. It varies slightly on each ship, but the main things offered are the same. Pirate Night on a Disney Cruise is one of the highlights of a cruise for many guests.

Does everyone dress up for Disney Cruise Pirate Night?

I was most curious to see exactly what this event entailed and what it had to offer for Disney Cruise Line guests of all ages, from families with little ones to adult couples. Still, we must remind that fireworks are weather-permitting. They may be joined onstage by some uninvited scoundrels and scallywags! Let’s just say that someone very special just may show up to save the night. Admittedly, we weren't expecting much participation among passengers when we attended Pirate Night on Disney Dream; fortunately, we were wrong. We donned a pirate hat and hook with some shredded clothing and striped tights -- and we fit right in.

Costume Comfort

One of the best places to view both the show and the fireworks is Deck 12 Port Side. The show is on Deck 11 which means that you will be above it looking down. The Dream and Fantasy fireworks are also fired from the Starboard side of the ship. Deck 4 is a good alternative place to view but if it is your first Pirate Night you will probably want to be in a different place. Another place to be if you do not want to follow the crowd is Deck 4 Starboard.

Disney’s Pirate Night is more than just an event; it’s a doorway into a realm where the ordinary is swathed in the extraordinary, where every guest becomes part of a whimsical pirate tale. This section will guide you through making the most out of this transformation from the moment you rise to the grand evening festivities. That’s when I remembered that our neighbors had been on a Disney Cruise and had talked about getting dressed up for Pirate Night. I texted my neighbor asking if I might be able to borrow her costume.

Erica lives in Boise, Idaho with her husband, Jared, an attorney, and her three beautiful girls. Beyond the world of recipes, she loves adventuring with everything from kayaking, to cruising, to snowboarding and taking the family along for the thrill ride. I love getting pictures with the same character, but in a different costume.

During our weeklong Caribbean sailing onboard Disney Fantasy, Pirate Night took place on the day we visited Tortola, British Virgin Islands. This day happened to be the 4th day of our 7-day cruise, or about halfway through our cruise sailing. While sailing onboard Disney Fantasy, I was able to see what Pirate Night was all about!

Costumes ranged from elaborate Jack Sparrow replicas to simple earrings and eye patches, but everyone seemed to have fun. We’re getting ready to set sail on our newest adventure with DCL Magazine! Our team is doing research, preparing layouts and capturing stunning photos of the entire fleet as we work towards launching our next magazine, dedicated to celebrating Disney Cruise Line. Overall, the experience and show remains the same unless you are sailing on a 3-Day Disney Cruise on the Disney Wish which has a different Pirate Night stage show. The themed menu resembles a treasure map and options include the Jolly Rogers Barbecue Rib Salad or Pirates Gold-en Pot Stickers or even Chilled-to-the-Bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup.

The show is fun, but I don’t think it is as good as Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean. If you ask people what activities they enjoyed on a Disney Cruise in the Caribbean, Pirate Night always seems to top the list. At first I wasn’t sure about the Pirate Night hype, but now it is one of my favorite on board activities.

This show also ends with a fireworks spectacular over the ship underscored by an original arrangement of the soundtrack from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. During our Pirate Night, there were high winds and our show still took place which surprised me! I think it takes some serious weather to cancel these events which is great news for fans. The Pirates Night show ends with fireworks above the Disney Cruise line ship. Keep in mind that fireworks are weather permitting and could be postponed or cancelled if there are high winds. For me the highlight of Buccaneer Blast is the fireworks.

Relatively few people will be watching from here as you can’t see the show at all. The disadvantage is that you can’t then be on the pool deck for the Party. But I think that the benefits outweigh this, particularly if you are not experiencing this for the first time.

If you aren’t exhausted stay for a pirate dance party on the pool deck. It is surely a night that will create fun memories for your entire family. Pirate Night on Disney Cruise Line encompasses several events. There are pirate character meet and greets, two live stage shows, fireworks, a dance party, and special late night buffet. Looking for more buccaneer-inspired fun to keep you entertained between shows? Guests can also take part in all sorts of activities especially for the event.
